Visit the physician

The first step however, is to immediately see a physician and allow his expertise to decide the mode of treatment, especially if you experience symptoms similar with the ones described by the scabies treatment pictures on this page. Though home remedies also prove successful in removing the scabies rash when taken carefully, many times people mistake the scabies rash for some other rash or vice versa. The treatment hence taken differs and the results therefore always do no bear fruit. It is best therefore that as itchy lumps and burrows appear you go to the doctor. If you wait at least till the time you know what exactly is the cause of the rash you will be able to treat it properly even if you want to cure the rash with self made remedies.

Prescribed medication

There are cremes like Permethrin and lotions like Lindane and medicines to be taken orally like Ivermestin that maybe prescribed by the doctors. The usual norm is that the body has to be first cleansed properly before the application of any cremes or lotions.

Once the body has been properly cleanses the creme or lotion that is being used is to be applied all over the body. The right way to apply it is to begin at the region of the neck and gently move downwards and apply all over the body. There is a stated requirement to keep the medication on the body for at least eight hours and then wash it away. Since this is difficult to follow if applied during the day time it is usually advised that the lotion or creme be applies just before one retires for the night. This way the medicine stays on for about eight hours and can be washed off when the infested person wakes up in the morning.

It is to be remembered that most of the above mentioned are not lessen the itch that accompanies the scabies rah. It is predominantly to cure the rash. Since the itch is a result of the rash it is only natural that as the infection is cured the itch will lessen. However if a scabies rash is properly treated it should be cured within a couple of days. But the itch of the rash continues to be irritating the person for about ten to fifteen days. It is important for the person to be patient for the itch to disappear since severe scratching will unnecessarily result in other rashes. Also to provide some relief to the rash topical steroids or ointments that has antihistamines like in the case of Benadryl maybe used though only under prescription.

Alternative medications

As already mentioned there are home remedies also to help cure scabies rash. A paste made of equal portions of neem leaves and turmeric with mustard oil added to it may be applied on the entire body and kept for an hour after which the person must take a proper bath. This procedure must be repeated for at east a week or two to completely cure the rash. Also, the juice of apricot leaves, that are fresh maybe used as an application to cure scabies rash.

Homeopathic medicines are also used for some of them are known to have properties that allow them to dissolve right into the skin which help them to fight the mites best. Though it is not a very frequent option people claim to have satisfactory results.

Hygiene and family

When a person is being treated for a rash caused by scabies generally the physician asks the entire family to undergo the treatment and undergo it simultaneously. This is because the rash could have well spread to the people the infested person is living with and curing only him or her may prove to be futile.

Also while the treatment is in process it should be made sure that every piece of clothing and bedding that is in use is washed properly in hot water. Some items that the infested person must have come into regular contact with and that that can neither be done away with nor be washed should be put away, tied in air compact bags and used after a week so as to kill the mites naturally.

If all the above be followed carefully the rash should be cured in as short duration as two days. The itch and marks of the rash too recedes with time.
